Design-Build

Building structures and facilities for today's business needs

What is Design-Build Construction?

Design-Build construction is a project delivery system that functions as one stop solution entity. It’s also referred to as a turnkey solution; incorporating a single team approach, where design, budgeting and construction are focused on the owners requirements.

This approach to project management and delivery has been the foundation of success for Southwest and Midwest Design and Construction.

This methodology provides a cohesive approach which can often shorten the timelines for completion of a project along with keeping them on budget.

The Design-Build Approach

Within the design-build approach, all facets of the project are managed by the design-build contractor, however, project goals and timelines are able to be better communicated to the rest of the team, which eliminates the risk of miscommunication, errors, and project delays.

It’s worth pointing out that a potential drawback of this method can be the number of controls owners relinquish concerning the design of the build. Owners will require a fairly vetted process of due diligence with the team assembled for the project, as it’s essentially a ‘one-stop shop’ team approach, one that doesn’t allow for easy substitution once work has commenced.
