Featured Project: Deerfield Colony Dairy Barn

One of the more recent projects that the SWMW team has been involved with is the construction of a commercial dairy barn located at the Deerfield Colony near Magrath, in Southern Alberta.

The structure itself, a pre-engineered steel building, was chosen by the client for its rugged durability and unique ability to have a wide span with minimal interior columns, maximizing the amount of functional interior space. It also sets up well for options for future expansion with the correct pre-planning.

Steel was also a good choice for this type of farming operation vs. wood, due to the additional moisture produced and contained inside, inherently associated with this type of production. Moisture over time will promote and provide an environment for water related damage such as mold and rot, so solutions need to be in place for its prevention and containment. Overall the building has been a great addition to the farming operation and our clients have been extremely happy with the solution we helped to provide!
