Dinosaur Provincial Park Central Hall

The central hall is the hub of staff activities in Dinosaur Provincial Park. It features an assembly area that can be used for activities or as a dining hall with a break room that has a 14’ high partition curtain to separate the areas for meetings. The building also has a large kitchen area with commercial stainless steel appliances and a pass through with a roll shutter. The assembly and deck area have scissor trusses to give a more open feeling and has multiple large windows facing the picturesque river and river hills beyond.

The building was built as a wood framed structure with exterior material colors chosen to blend in with the local country side. The large deck was constructed with a 6” concrete floor and aluminum railings it also features cultured stone pillars and wall accent to give it a more natural look. The interior colors blend in with the structure and the surrounding area to give the building a warm feeling and make the occupants feel at home.

Some of the energy efficient items used were a Hi efficient furnace and low volume flush toilets as well as T5 fluorescent lights, blown in R40 insulation was used in the ceiling and R20 batt insulation in the walls to help keep the building warm.

The area features homes for the park staff as well as over 130 camping stalls for visitors to the Provincial Park, We have also built 7 covered decks some with river views in the park that feature park supplied canvas walled tents with electricity, lights, barbecues , fire pits, queen sized beds and cooking utensils.
